In the middle of the taiga, a lonely cat meets a small bird. These two creatures, which nature has made enemies, are mutually attracted to each other. A friendship is born between them, albeit with a touch of suspicion.
Film expert recommends
The young Belgian director’s film is a 16-minute animation whose title is strictly about content and form. It begins amiably and innocently enough – a small bird and some cat-like animal who unexpectedly become friends. Over time, their relationship becomes very complicated, and this is determined by the law of metamorphosis and interpenetration. Is it really just friendship? Maybe an addiction? Symbiosis? Parasitism? Appropriation? The interchange of roles, bodies, colours and meanings makes it impossible to look at this extraordinary work of art in a straightforward manner, which defies simple interpretations of animal cinema.
