O nas
The International Young Audience Film Festival Ale Kino! continues the tradition of the Animated Film Review initiated in 1963, making it the second oldest Polish film festival and the second oldest festival for young audiences in the world.
For years, we have been presenting the best films of the year to the Poznań audience, many of which have won awards at the most important international festivals. The lineup also includes films that do not yet have a festival circuit and have been discovered by our programming team. Every year, we offer our audience a range of films that do not enter wide theatrical distribution later, making the Festival a unique opportunity to see them on the big screen. A perfect example of this are short films.
For many years, a strong point of Ale Kino! has been films aimed at teenagers, which also attract a loyal adult audience. This part of the program is often filled with films awarded at major European festivals such as Cannes, Venice, and Berlin. They explore experiences related to growing up (so-called coming-of-age films), and this theme is often tackled in directorial debuts—frequently very personal and filled with intense emotions, still fresh in the memories of young creators.
Several years ago, pioneering in Europe and now increasingly popular, are screenings for the very youngest audiences. In a specially arranged space, with dimmed lights (not in complete darkness) and lowered sound levels, children aged three to five and their accompanying adults can watch short films. These events usually include additional animations, movement activities, or theatrical performances.
