International Young Audience Film Festival Ale Kino!

The International Young Audience Film Festival Ale Kino! continues the tradition of the Animated Film Review, initiated in 1963, thus it is the second oldest film festival in Poland and the second oldest film festival for young audiences in the world.

Programme

For years, we have been presenting Poznań audiences with the best films of the year that have won awards at the world’s most important festivals. The programme also includes films that have not yet had a festival history and have been discovered by our programme team. Every year, we offer our audience a number of films that do not later enter wide theatrical distribution, making the Festival the only opportunity to see them on the big screen. The short films are a perfect example of this.

For the young

For years, a strong point of Ale Kino! has been films aimed at young people, whose faithful audience is also adults. It is this part of the programme that is often filled with award-winning films from the biggest European festivals: Cannes, Venice or Berlin. They address the experience of growing up (so-called coming of age films), and this theme is often taken up in directorial debuts – often very personal and characterised by intense emotions, still fresh in the minds of the young filmmakers.

For the youngest

A dozen or so years ago, screenings for the youngest audiences were pioneering in Europe and are becoming increasingly popular today. In a specially arranged space, in dimmed light (rather than darkness) and with the sound turned down, children aged three to five and adults close to them can watch short films. These events are usually accompanied by additional animation, movement or theatre activities.
