In Jaśmina Wójcik’s latest film, it is the youngest who reclaim their voices: the narrators are sisters Zoja and Lea, whom we meet during the Covid lockdown. Their everyday life is interrupted by a special trip to the forest, where the girls discover the beauty of nature while also taking their first steps towards understanding the surrounding world — one in which the echoes of war reach even children. Through the sisters’ narration, as well as their reading of King Matt the First by Janusz Korczak, the film explores a child’s perspective on the world, the process of growing up, and the first experiences of responsibility, portraying the sensuality and fleeting nature of childhood. Beautiful cinematography and subtle details invite viewers to immerse themselves in the world of childhood imagination and the joy of discovery.
