As part of school tradition, each sixth-grader is paired with a first-grader to look after. Amanda hoped for a cute kid, but instead, she got Lars—the target of her classmates’ teasing. She quickly grows fond of him but can’t openly admit it. After all, the stakes are high—she’s got a major crush on Adam and wants to win his approval.
