Antek, an unlettered boy from a wealthy family, invites Kuba, a teenage drug dealer with whom he is hopelessly in love, to his villa on the pretext of another drug deal. What Antek doesn’t know, however, is that Kuba is visiting him with a mission given to him by his superiors: Father and Brother. The dealer’s family suspects that Antek is selling the mephedrone he buys from them every week at his school for profit, so Kuba is to investigate the situation. A romantic comedy of errors that moves seamlessly into social satire to end with an emotional twist.

Film expert recommends

A strong new voice of our cinema, the screenwriter of two excellent films by Jan Komasa – Corpus Christi (2019) and Suicide Room. Hejter (2020), has taken to directing. Barring a certain trifle, the twenty-something minute Stimulators… is a bravura feature debut. Teenage alienation problems, the image of a Polish family in which two generations unanimously deal drugs, the helplessness and self-deception of conservative parents; this is the contemporary ‘homeland’ and ‘sonhood’ in an absurd tragicomedy worthy of Piwowski or especially Koterski. Pacewicz also breaks the bank as a director.
