Ale Kino! Pro - Film Criticism - Education

About project

Ale Kino! Pro has been supporting the development of Polish cinema for young audiences for years. It is a unique platform for debate and multidirectional exchange of experiences for Polish filmmakers. It gives them the chance to share knowledge, as well as the opportunity to meet with partners from Europe and all over the world.

Ale Kino! Pro is also a unique laboratory – a place where ideas for future film productions are born. Through meetings with educators who share their knowledge and practice, young filmmakers and artists can enrich their projects with a valuable perspective. Educators also benefit from this exchange, learning about the stages of film production.

In 2023, the activities of Ale Kino! Pro will extend to include the film criticism community. A very special moment worth celebrating – after many years of crisis, Polish cinema for young audiences finally returns to our screens. We want to support this process by reaching out to the film criticism community. The Festival therefore joins in the long-term effort to provide inspiration and professional support to young people who would like to work in this field.

Our main objectives:

  • answer the question: is there a separate domain of film criticism regarding works for young audiences, and if so, how does it differ from the one concentrating on productions for adult viewers;
  • develop specialised tools for film criticism;
  • develop a supportive environment for relevant discussions about issues specific for films for young audiences, which will contribute to building a community of critics associated with the Festival;
  • facilitate dialogue and exchange of experiences between filmmakers, educators, and critics;
  • inspiring and popularising new forms of film criticism among educators and young audiences;
  • showcasing good practices of film education and opening debate in the topic.
